Chelsea ‘on alert for Jordan Pickford’ after Everton contract delay raises doubts over future

Chelsea were notified by Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, as his future is still in doubt.

Pickford, England’s number 1 player, has been with Everton since 2017 after he moved from Sunderland, where he made 214 appearances for The Toffees.

In 18 months, he will be out of contract. Everton was expected to have reached a new agreement with England before the World Cup.

According to the Daily Mail a new five-year contract was reached prior to the tournament in Qatar. However, Pickford’s extension has yet to be approved by the club.

His future is now in doubt. Chelsea and Manchester United have been alerted by the delay.

The report states that Pickford was willing to extend Merseyside’s term for no reason.

Premier League clubs believe Pickford could be relegated this season if a deal is reached.

Frank Lampard, Everton boss, gave an update on Pickford’s situation and asked that he remain at Goodison Park.

He stated that Jordan feels very happy at the club.

“I believe we can match his ambitions. He’s an integral part of a large club with a rich history and great ambition. Jordan can feel like this, and we can match each other’s ambitions. I don’t see it as a problem if he stays longer.

Chelsea is said to be looking for a goalkeeper, despite Gabriel Slonina’s arrival from Chicago Fire.

Edouard Médy’s future is in doubt, and Kepa Arrizabalaga’s long-term Stamford Bridge position isn’t clear.
